DVD  / Blu-ray “Stash Box” Limited Edition - At the height of their comedy career, Cheech Marin and Tommy Chong teamed up with their long time record producer Lou Adler to make their first feature film about two buddies that travel from Mexico to Los Angeles, totally unaware that the van they are driving is made entirely of marijuana and the cops are on their tail. It was a hit and spawned a series of Cheech and Chong films throughout the 80’s.

Here we have an FYE fan club exclusive DVD and Blu-ray comb 40^th anniversary edition from 2018 that’s packaged in what would appear to be an old wooden stash box… and yes, all of us at a certain age these days had one.

The blu-ray disc features all new 40^th anniversary interviews, commentary, deleted scenes, a look back at Up in Smoke featurette, animated “Earache my Eye” music video, radio spots and more. Disc two is the feature film with other special features. Now out of print.

DVD / Blu-ray Combo - Duke Mitchell is paroled gangster, Paul, who hatches a grand scheme: to kidnap the Pope and charge every Catholic in the world one dollar as a ransom. The film was still not completely finished when Mitchell passed away in 1981, so Grindhouse Releasing took it upon themselves to edit the film together from all the surviving elements and get it out there. That alone took roughly 15 years to complete but the results are basically the Holy Grail of exploitation films. Our silver-masked wrestling hero, El Santo, invents a time machine and uses it to go back in time and track down the location of Dracula’s hidden treasure so he can fund a children’s hospital. He is forced to face down and battle not only Dracula himself, but his bevy of beautiful vampire vixens. The original release of this film was in B&W and they cut out all of the nudity and marketed it more for kids. This is the uncut print, in color, and dubbed in English (or with optional English subtitles) containing the nudity shot for European markets. A FISTFUL OF DOLLARS (1964), FOR A FEW DOLLARS MORE (1965), THE GOOD THE BAD AND THE UGLY (1966) and DUCK YOU SUCKER (1972) - Here’s a terrific little box set of the Sergio Leone directed “Dollars” trilogy along with Duck, You Sucker, which was set in the same era of time. Of course, most people know about the first three films, with Clint Eastwood as “The Man With No Name” (along with fantastic performances from costars Lee Van Cleef and Eli Wallach) and I’m surer we don’t need to recap these three films, but it’s a shame more people haven’t seen DUCK, YOU SUCKER! (aka A Fistful of Dynamite to cash in on the original trilogy.) In it, James Cobrn stars as an IRA operative on the run, and Rod Steiger is a rough and tumble bandit. Together they plot to rob Mexico’s wealthiest bank and in the process, land in the cross-hairs of the Mexican Revolution going on around them.  DVD

Blu-ray/DVD Combo - aka The Incredible Torture Show.  Director Joel Reed’s unforgettable black comedy tinged exploitation classic takes you to the bizarre off-off-Broadway Theater of the Macabre, operated by the devilishly deranged Sardu. He and his demented midget assistant, Ralphus, torture and mutilate women on stage for what seems to mostly be their own enjoyment. They also run a white slavery operation out of the basement of the theater. Sardu becomes smitten with the idea of having Natasha Di Natalie - quite possibly the worse ballerina in the world - as part of his show, so he kidnaps and begins to brainwash her. When theater critic Creasy Silo gives him a pathetic review, he has him kidnapped and tortures him. We could go on, but you get the idea. If you’ve never seen Bloodsucking Freaks, you need to. Really.

Director Kathryn Bigelow crafted one of the most original vampire films ever made with Near Dark and it holds up extremely well all these years later. No frills DVD.

Sadly, something is wrong with Andy... Horribly wrong. Written by Alan Ormsby and directed by Bob Clark (the duo that brought the world Children Shouldn’t Play with Dead Things), Deathdream also marked the second film effort from effects legend, Tom Savini. The Gruesome Edition - Tobe Hooper’s follow up to the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre sure got a bad rap when it first came out. Maybe it was deserved and maybe it wasn’t but I do know one thing, TCM 2 sure did get better with age. The Tom Savini effects that made the film after budget cuts are solid, the atmosphere of the decrepit carnival the family calls home is plenty creepy, and although it may well lack the “grit” of the original, a great camp feel, including a performance by Dennis Hopper as a Texas Ranger looking to avenge his family, and the chemistry between Bill Johnson’s “Buba” (Leatherface) and Bill Moseley’s over-the-top “Choptop” make for some solid laughs as well as scares.

This special edition includes a beautiful remastered, widescreen, print of the film complete with commentary by director Toby Hooper. You also get a second commentary from stars Bill Moseley and Caroline Williams and effects guru Tom Savini, deleted scenes, featurette and more. Out of print DVD.

One of Lucio Fulci’s last films to actually be released in the USA combines elements of The Exorcist, The Awakening and Poltergeist to name a few. The results are mixed to say the least. In the sleepy fishing village of Noyo fishlike humanoid creatures rise from the ocean looking to mate with human females in one of the best B horror films of the 1980s. A family of four soon learn that the town is really one helluva tourist trap… and they are on the menu! Laughably inept, Troll 2 - and, yes, there are no trolls in the film - was written and directed by Italian cult film director Claudio Fragasso, who insisted that the “actors” speak the poorly written English dialogue he wrote instead of improving the dialogue even slightly. It’s gone down as one bad movie night cult film since its release. Includes the original trailer.

Then you probably don’t know much about Independent International Pictures... But you should, so start with any of the Al Adamson films until you get through as many as you can find. Collector’s Edition - Actually much better than pretty much any and every sequel that came after it, this entry in the Halloween franchise attempted to start an annual Halloween themed film that didn’t revolve around Michael Myers since he died at the end of part two.

Dan O’Herlhy stars as the evil owner of the Silver Shamrock Novelties Company. He’s out to kill millions of children on Halloween with a Celtic ritual and killer Halloween masks. Doctor Tom Atkins and Stacey Nelkin are hot on his trail in an attempt to stop the mad man.

And finally, on a dark and story night, a young boy that is thought to be dead surprises his grieving mother in “Bobby.”

In DARKMAN 2: THE RETURN OF DURANT (1995), Darkman returns to get revenge against the sadistic villain, Robert Durant.

In DARKMAN 3: DIE DARKMAN DIE (1996), Darkman matches wits with underworld drug dealer Peter Rooker, who will do anything to unmask the secret of Darkman superhuman strength.

aka Invasion of the Flesh Hunters, Cannibal’s in the Streets.  Vietnam vet Norman Hopper (John Saxon) is leading a nice quiet live outside Atlanta, Georgia when his life is turned upside down by the return of his combat buddy Charlie Bukowski (John Morghen) dredges up flashbacks of flesh eating and bloodshed in the war-torn jungles. He and another war buddy (Tony King) are on the run from the law after taking a bite out of an unwilling victim and soon enough the trio are spreading a contagion that turns their victims into cannibal killers. Gory and goofy fun as only Italian director Antonio Margheriti could accomplish, this entry in the cannibal / flesh eater films of the early 80s is well worth a look. Uncut print includes documentary, interview with Tony King, video tour of the filing locations, alternate opening title sequence, and trailers.  DVD

Imported women in prison fun. Deep within a Brazilian women’s prison, a sadistic warden who takes pleasure in others pain forces four inmates to make a break for it, killing anybody who gets in their way. Out of print English language release. DVD

Limited Edition 2-Disc DVD Set - A double dose of Edgar Allan Poe horror from Dario Argento and George Romero. Romero handles “The Strange Case of Mr. Valdemar”, which is, well, typical Romero. A little slow but on par with any of the 60’s Roger Corman A.I.P. Poe stuff.

Leap on over to Argento’s “Black Cat” adaptation with Harvey Keitel as a crime photographer who murders his girlfriend and hides her behind the wall. It’s a nice high spot in Argento’s slowly declining film output of the last ten or fifteen years.

Blu-ray / DVD Combo - Boasting one of the best casts you’ll find in a horror film made for twenty bucks, Clint Howard stars as Gregory, a guy who watched his idol, “The Ice Cream King” murdered as a child. Now all grown up, the demented Gregory has become a murderous ice cream man who delivers mysterious treats as well and killer tricks. Hard to believe so many name actors needed a pay check at the same time, but look around and you’ll find the likes of Sandahl Bergman, Olivia Hussy, David Naughton and what looks like a noticeably half drunk Jan Michael Vincent among the cast. Fun stuff, with some great cheesy gore to boot.

Deep in the Amazon jungle, a group of women escape a group of whip-cracking white slavers only to fall into the hands of a perverted priest whose followers just adore painted women.  Caught between bounty hunters and horny holy henchmen, it’s desperate damsels try it all to escape their poison paradise alive. Sleazy South American WIP stuff from Oswaldo de Oliveria, the man who brought the world Bare Behind Bars a couple of years earlier. This widescreen, uncut print is definitely 18+ rated. Five children (including a young Leif Garrett) survive a deadly van crash in a snowy canyon and seek shelter at the secluded winter home of a rich businessman and his guests. Soon enough, the electricity and telephones go down and the adults begin to fall prey to a series of violent deaths. By the time the few remaining adults suspect the demented delinquents, it may be too late for them to survive this enjoyable cult horror film.
