  • George Baker: Original Comic Book Page

George Baker (1915-1975) was the cartoonist who created The Sad Sack cartoon during World War 2. After the war, he turned it into the Sad Sack comic strip and comic book and drew it until his death in 1975. Here we have an original 13.5x23” comic book page from Sad Sack #60 from 1966. It’s page six of a story and features the Sergeant, who’s obviously wearing some sort of female attracting perfume or chemical being chased around by various female animals. There’s a small brown stain that touches one of the frames of the story but is in nice condition otherwise with no rips or tears and would look good framed up and displayed.

Here we have an original, published, 3 panel B&W pen and ink strip that’s dated 8/15 (don’t know if it’s 1958 or 1959 though) and signed by Harry Mace. It’s in Very Good overall condition and would look great framed up.

  • Radio Spot Apocalypse 10: The Skyland Drive-in Edition

One of the things people liked most about Volume One of our Radio Spot Collections was the drive-in announcements from Lake Cely (aka Elmer Snodgrass.) Cely was the morning DJ at WQOK radio in Greenville, SC and taped a show for the Skyland Drive-In every week for four years that they played through the drive-in speakers and in and around the concession area every weekend. They were recorded on reel to reel audio tape, and I’m sure they got erased and reused. Only five shows are known to exist, and the one we used on Radio Spot Volume 1 was only Cely’s audio portion… So I guess only 4 and ½ shows exist? We have since uncovered the remaining four shows, and best of all, they are complete and uncut shows just as they aired in late 1959 and early 1960. In each show, Lake Cely promotes new food items, upcoming movies, contests, and special attractions while spinning 50s music between his announcing duties. Four complete shows on four CDs… How can you go wrong!?

Cinema Wasteland’s Radio Spot Apocalypse offers up original radio trailers to over 150 Drive-In Movies and Attractions from the 60’s and 70’s on three CDs. You also get a special bonus “leftover” disc of extra and unused radio spots not included in the original 3 disc set that includes bonus radio interviews from the 1970 film Julius Caesar with Charlton Heston. That’s a four disc set in all that totals spots to over 150 films with a running time of four and a half hours in all! This collection has been called everything from “amazing” to “exhaustive”... All we know is that at this price, you’d be silly to pass up adding it to your collection!

  • Radio Spot Apocalypse 3: The Blaxploitation Collection

From 1970 to 1980, over 200 films with Black themes were released to Drive-In’s and Grindhouses across the country where they came to be known as “Blaxploitation” movies. Many of these ground breaking films were powerful, hip, and just plain fun... And it seems that the horror and exploitation films were the most fun and profitable. Cinema Wasteland’s Radio Spot Apocalypse 3 celebrates the Blaxploitation Era of films, along with its kissing cousin, the Martial Arts movie, by collecting 125 different radio trailers to 103 different films and 3 double features on two CDs (with a running time over two hours long.) Although we’ve gone back and pulled almost every blaxploitation and martial arts radio spot used on the first two volumes of Cinema Wasteland’s Radio Spot Collections, Volume 3 features 83 original radio trailers and 37 original Intermission spots available here for the first time and not found on our other collections. Chock full of Mack Daddies, Foxy Mamas, Mighty Mandingo’s, Soul Sisters, Pimps, Con Men, Godfathers, Tough Cops, Tougher Criminals, and some of the baddest one-chick hit-squads to ever blow into town, Cinema Wasteland’s Radio Spot Apocalypse 3 has been Rated X by an all white jury! 162 tracks total on 2 CDs. Total Running time for both discs is 129 minutes.

Peppered throughout Radio Spot Apocalypse 4 are 36 original theater and drive-in intermission spots and advertisements, the original theme song to H.G. Lewis’ 1968 sexploitation classic, Suburban Roulette, nine different interview segments from the 1972 horror film, Who Slew Auntie Roo, and More! 198 total tracks on two CDs. Total running time for both discs is 138 minutes.

  • Radio Spot Apocalypse 5: Classic Radio Commercials

Radio Spot Apocalypse Volume 5 doesn’t feature audio trailers for classic, and not so classic films like the previous 4 volumes did. This time around we’re celebrating classic, and not so classic Radio Commercials, Public Service Announcements, Radio Station Plugs, and Assorted Advertising Promos from the 1960s, 70s, and 80s of FM radio.

Included are radio spots designed to get businesses to advertise on the radio, commercials and jingles for Candy, Soda, Beer, Cigarettes, various Stores and Car Dealerships, Classic Albums, Restaurants, and More! Remember New Coke?... You’ll find a few radio commercials for that disaster included on this collection. How about “Frank and Louie” the Budweiser Lizards, or a couple of truly bizarre Ban Deodorant radio commercials? Yep, they’re included as well, along with dozens of classic 60s and 70s bands selling everything from bath soap, to drink mix, blue jeans, beer, and breakfast cereal. There was a time when radio ruled and the clever and witty radio commercials and jingles were just as popular as a Number One Hit Single. Relive those days with this Collection of Classic Radio Commercials and we’re willing to bet you’ll be singing along with a timeless radio jingle from your past in no time. Radio Spot Apocalypse Volume 5 features 159 radio commercials on 2 CDs. Running time is approximately 158 minutes and well worth the listen.

  • Radio Spot Apocalypse 9: Classic AM Radio Station CKLW 1968 to 1973

In the 1960’s and 70’s, Top 40 radio station, CKLW, was the top-rated AM station in Windsor, Ontario and was easily heard in the Detroit, Cleveland and Toledo, Ohio areas as well. Calling itself “The Big 8” (as it was 800 on the AM dial) CKLW became an internationally known station that helped to break a number of Canadian Groups and Artists like Anne Murray, Gordon Lightfoot, Joni Mitchell, The Guess Who, April Wine, and The Five Man Electrical Band to name a few. By 1978, CKLW’s popularity was overshadowed by FM radio’s album oriented rock format and it became the station you listened to if you only had an AM radio in your old car. But The Big 8 lives on!

Here we have a series of CKLW air checks from 1968 to 1973 on three CD’s. These are actual radio shows (or at least large portions of actual radio shows) that were recorded as they originally aired, complete with disc jockey banter between songs, original commercials and sponsor spots, weather reports, and giveaways between complete songs and hits of the day. It’s exactly like listening to the radio during the CKLW golden age because it IS radio during the CKLW golden age! Also includes a 4th CD of 1950’s, 60’s and 70’s Concerts, Radio Programs, LP Release Ads, and Groups and Musicians doing original radio commercials and Public Service Announcements not found on our other Radio Spot CD Collections. Four CD Set. Approximately 4 ½ hours total running time.

Choose from: Francis the Foul (the way out dribbler), Killer McBash (the dazzling decimator), or Sling Rave Curvette (the way out spectator).

The boxes are a little deformed due to the original shrink wrap continuing to shrink up over the years, but no major damage to the boxes.
