Cotton Comes to Harlem (1970)

Detectives “Gravedigger” Jones (Godfrey Cambridge) and “Coffin Ed” Johnson (Raymond St. Jacques) are investigating a crooked Reverend (Calvin Lockhart) who is scamming the neighborhood out of cash with his “Back to Africa” campaign. When $87,000 of the Rev’s laundered loot gets stashed in a bail of cotton and goes missing, the chase is on. Directed by actor/director Ossie Davis, Cotton Comes to Harlem was one of the films that ushered in the whole “blaxploitation” film movement of the 70’s. Remastered in HD.  DVD
