Of course, most people know about the first three films, with Clint Eastwood as “The Man With No Name” (along with fantastic performances from costars Lee Van Cleef and Eli Wallach) and I’m surer we don’t need to recap these three films, but it’s a shame more people haven’t seen DUCK, YOU SUCKER! (aka A Fistful of Dynamite to cash in on the original trilogy.) In it, James Cobrn stars as an IRA operative on the run, and Rod Steiger is a rough and tumble bandit. Together they plot to rob Mexico’s wealthiest bank and in the process, land in the cross-hairs of the Mexican Revolution going on around them.  DVD

40^th Anniversary Edition - Tobe Hooper’s cult horror classic still packs a punch 40 years after its original release. And this restored 4K print looks and sounds great too. Includes commentary from Tobe Hooper, Gunnar “Leatherface” Hanson, and DP Daniel Pearl; a second commentary with Marilyn Burns, Allen Danziger, and Paul Partain; and one more from director Tobe Hooper.  DVD

The Gruesome Edition - Tobe Hooper’s follow up to the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre sure got a bad rap when it first came out. Maybe it was deserved and maybe it wasn’t but I do know one thing, TCM 2 sure did get better with age. The Tom Savini effects that made the film after budget cuts are solid, the atmosphere of the decrepit carnival the family calls home is plenty creepy, and although it may well lack the “grit” of the original, a great camp feel, including a performance by Dennis Hopper as a Texas Ranger looking to avenge his family, and the chemistry between Bill Johnson’s “Buba” (Leatherface) and Bill Moseley’s over-the-top “Choptop” make for some solid laughs as well as scares.

This special edition includes a beautiful remastered, widescreen, print of the film complete with commentary by director Toby Hooper. You also get a second commentary from stars Bill Moseley and Caroline Williams and effects guru Tom Savini, deleted scenes, featurette and more. Out of print DVD.

Laughably inept, Troll 2 - and, yes, there are no trolls in the film - was written and directed by Italian cult film director Claudio Fragasso, who insisted that the “actors” speak the poorly written English dialogue he wrote instead of improving the dialogue even slightly. Well, it’s actually Romero’s second retelling of the story as he tried it once in 1959 as “Terror Is A Man”, but this one is in color. Former teen idol John Ashley is our lost-at-sea hero who winds up on the dread island of horrors. The doctor’s daughter winds up setting the island creatures loose, which include an ape man, antelope man, a flying bat man, and Pam Grier as the panther woman. Limited Edition 2-Disc DVD Set - A double dose of Edgar Allan Poe horror from Dario Argento and George Romero. Romero handles “The Strange Case of Mr. Valdemar”, which is, well, typical Romero. A little slow but on par with any of the 60’s Roger Corman A.I.P. Poe stuff.

Leap on over to Argento’s “Black Cat” adaptation with Harvey Keitel as a crime photographer who murders his girlfriend and hides her behind the wall. It’s a nice high spot in Argento’s slowly declining film output of the last ten or fifteen years.

DVD  / Blu-ray “Stash Box” Limited Edition - At the height of their comedy career, Cheech Marin and Tommy Chong teamed up with their long time record producer Lou Adler to make their first feature film about two buddies that travel from Mexico to Los Angeles, totally unaware that the van they are driving is made entirely of marijuana and the cops are on their tail. It was a hit and spawned a series of Cheech and Chong films throughout the 80’s.

Here we have an FYE fan club exclusive DVD and Blu-ray comb 40^th anniversary edition from 2018 that’s packaged in what would appear to be an old wooden stash box… and yes, all of us at a certain age these days had one.

From director Antonio Bido comes this Italian giallo thriller about a young nightclub dancer who witnesses a murder.
